And it's not just our character names that are important. Our names are important too! I'm sure we've all imagined what it'll be like if our names get that perfect spot on some beautiful hardcover novel in Barnes & Noble. (Yep, now you now my dream. :P)
What if our name is unpronounceable? What if it's super duper long? Does it have that special ring to it? I'm sure we've all had those thoughts--or will--at some point in time.
And finally, I've got a new story idea floating around my head. It's really fun. I've written myself a note about it, but it'll have to wait until this MS gets finished!
I'm not helping you plot anything new until you finish one of them! JUST SAYING.
ReplyDeleteWasn't planning on it, silly :P
ReplyDeleteI gave up trying to be clever with names of characters with my second ms. It just becomes a time suck away from the writing. Clever accidents resulting in a name with a meaning are awesome though.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that you already have another story line lined up next when you are finished with your MS. Names can be a challenge at times.
ReplyDeleteCharacter names are very important to me, but I rarely name characters based on the meaning of the name. I just hear names I like and fit them with personality, and often, culture of characters. And I like your name as a girl's name by the way :)
ReplyDeleteSteph - Names can definitely be a time suck. I know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteRegina - Names definitely can be a challenge! Especially when you've got certain criteria. :P
NiaRaie - That's a good way of doing it. Thanks! I like my name :)
