Awards

I received the Versatile Blogger award from Jessica some time near the beginning of December (yeah, been thinking that long!), and I really had no idea what to do with it. I recently received the Stylish Blogger award from Regina and Alison. Figured I couldn't procrastinate any longer. Thank you so much ladies!

Both awards ask for 7 things, so I'll do 14 to make up for lost time (though I don't think I'm really that interesting...)

  1. Got my dog (Luca) from a stranger at a family reunion. He was about the size of a full-grown hamster then. Said stranger tried to entice my parents into buying him for me by demonstrating he could go potty on the grass... after placing him there. Oo, talented. (He didn't actually go, anyway.)
  2. I really enjoy going to school and learning new things. Sometimes it's the highlight of my day.
  3. I went to cosmetology school and am a licensed Cosmetologist. In simple terms, I can legally cut your hair and ask you for money. :)
  4. I'm one of the few women (at least, that I know of) that doesn't like chocolate.
  5. On that note, I'm probably also one of the few Seattlites that doesn't drink some sort of caffeine. That's right. Don't drink coffee or tea. (Eek.)
  6. As I'm sure many of you have noticed the pink haired ladies on Twitter--I have really had pink hair. It was pretty awesome.
  7. I really really love storms of all kinds. I was totally jealous of the east coast's big snow. :( I wanted at least half of that. Could've gone for a quarter or an eighth...
  8. I believe in ghosts. :)
  9. I'm kind of anal with pronunciations. It's hard to hear people butcher their words in French class. (One girl said "Mah-nit" instead of "Monet" during a presentation.) I've learned to squash the urge to correct people though--for the most part.
  10. I am a super picky eater. You can try to compare all you want, haha.
  11. I like to collect rocks, candles and dried flower petals. Sometimes the petals don't turn out too well and I have to throw them out. :(
  12. I've been writing since I was little, though I can't say it was really any good until a couple years ago.
  13. First couple times I tried to set out to write a book I always had someone who would be writing with me.
  14. Yay, last one. Hmm, I like to chew ice. Nice refreshing treat that's cold and crunchy. And no calories!
So, the Stylish Blogger award asks for 15 bloggers to be awarded. The Versatile Blogger award asks for 7. So, a total of 22 links! Wow, okay.

  1. Congrats on your award. Great to learn a little more about you with those fun facts. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to chew ice. Yum ;)

  2. Congratulations on your awards! That's awesome that you are a cosmetologist. I cut hair, but am not licensed...just grew up in a big family with not a lot of money. I learned and love it, but not enough that I wanted to go to school for it. I like to go to those people to help with my drab head of hair.

And for the record, I'm one of the few Portlander's that don't drink caffeine either. The smell of coffee almost makes me gag. Oh well.

  5. Oooh! I hate when people butcher French.

It is my second favourite language in the world.

Bonus points if they butcher it trying to correct my pronunciation.

    >_<

  6. You don't like chocolate?! And you don't drink coffee?! Wow... two of my most favourite things.

    Congrats on the awards :)

  7. Lindsay - Thanks. Yay ice. It tastes so good.

Michelle - Non-coffee-drinkers-from-the-NW unite~ Cutting hair is pretty fun :)

Jessie - How do you want your refund?

    Summer - Thanks. :)

Misha - I hate it when people butcher any language. RE: Bonus points: That's crazy and hilarious.

  9. Thank you for sharing your award with me, Devin - I left one for you at my blog, too!

I love storms, too - especially summer thunderstorms. We had a bad one a couple of nights ago where we had to get all the kids out of bed and go to the basement. I guess it reminds me of when I was a little kid and my siblings were all so much older and busy all the time, but whenever we had a tornado warning the whole family went to the basement and I loved having everyone together.

  11. There is nothing wrong with not liking chocolate or not drinking caffeine. Just don't ask me to stop...*shudders at the thought* lol I agree that storms are really awesome. I love to listen to the thunder and watch lightening. Also, my husband is convinced that our upstairs is haunted. You have some great awards that are genuinely deserved. Thank you for sharing some bits about you with us!

  12. First time here, and I love your list! I believe in ghosts too. :-) There is something about storms too. I like watching the lightning. As for the snow, I like it, but I'm from NJ and I've had enough for the winter. Bring on the spring!! Looking forward to reading more of your blog!

  13. Aun-Juli - You're welcome! :D

Susan - Oh wow, thanks for the award! Storms are awesome. I like it when they bring the family together, too.

Ciara - Thanks. Crushed ice or half melted ice is the best!

Regina - Awe, thanks. :) I'd never ask someone to stop drinking coffee or eating chocolate, haha. Thunder and lightning are the best~ Totally jealous of your maybe haunted upstairs.

Margie - Welcome to the blog! Thanks. Ghosts are awesome and so are storms. Totally with you for spring~ (Though I'm not sick of winter quite yet.) :) I look forward to seeing you!

  16. Congrats on your award, and nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by my blog. :) Best to you as you endeavor to drop the "wannabe"!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Good luck on all of us dropping the wannabee! I guess there are two women in the world who aren't crazy about chocolate. My husband's nuts about it. Whenever he orders a dessert, it's chocolate, of course. I like butter and vanilla flavors better ...

  18. I just have to say that I am not a lover of chocolate, either. It continually shocks those around me and I have dear friends who still try to offer me chocolate. When I remind them that I still don't like chocolate, they are shocked (again).

  19. AWWW THANKS for the award---I will now send a snowstorm your way! :)

  20. I'm a crusader too. Congratulations on your awards!

Licensed cosmetologist? I guess I've illegally cut my husband's hair for years. But I don't charge him money, so maybe I can't get in trouble.

  21. Okay, the pronunciation one reminds me so much of me! Ever heard someone say the word NUCLEAR as NUCULAR? Makes me insane LOL! Awesome list Devin:)

  22. Lynda - Thank you!

Donea - Welcome and yay crusader! Glad there's more non-coffee drinkers out there.

Alison - Thanks! I hope it wasn't too boring.

Carol - Thanks, it's great to meet you too.

Catherine - Most definitely! All of us want to drop the wannabe. Haha, your husband likes chocolate more? Do you guys get teased for it? Totally with you on the butter/vanilla flavors. WAY BETTER than chocolate (to my tongue.)

Dr3am3er - Haha, I totally know how you feel. I get the "you don't like chocolate :O" reaction every time.

Christina - :D Yay, snowstorm! You're more than welcome.

Theresa - Thanks and woo crusader! You won't get in trouble for trimming your hubby's hair :P It's not really a law the state cares about until someone tries to sue you or whatever. (So I was told, at least.)

Lindsay - YES. Oh my goodness. My dad is one of those that says it like nucular. I correct him every time. Thanks.
